Rich joined the staff at FBC Norman in January 2015 as the Minister to Youth after serving as the Pastor of FBC Oglesby, TX, Minister to Students at NorthHaven Church, and Youth Intern at FBC Richardson, TX. He also spent some time serving with his wife overseas. Rich graduated with a BA in Psychology from the University of Oklahoma, then received a Master of Divinity and Master of Business Administration degree from George W. Truett Seminary and Baylor University. Rich's wife Stacy is also an OU and Truett grad, and they recently had their first child, Lucas Eren Robert Lubbers (#boyLERL for short). Rich loves his dog, a Belgian Malinois named Sir Thomas a Becket (Mr. Becket for short) more than he should, and drinks copious amounts of caffeine in the forms of unsweet tea and black coffee. He is a staunch supporter of the Oxford comma, Chelsea football, and dark chocolate Kit Kats. If OU plays it, he wants to watch it, and sometimes just needs someone to go with, so will you be his friend?
Madison joined the youth ministry staff in May 2015 as the Summer Youth Intern. She is a senior at the University of Central Oklahoma, working on a degree in Marriage and Family Life Education (which sounds really fancy). At least partially claiming a hometown of Las Vegas, she enjoys hammocking, drinking coffee, and wandering around Peruvian hotels in search of decent wifi.
8:30 a.m. Our first corporate worship opportunity is our Classic Service, a service that uses choir and orchestra to lead members of our congregation of all ages. It's a great way to start off your Sunday!
9:40 a.m. All youth, 6th - 12th grades, meet on the 2nd floor in the East Wing of the church in what we affectionately call the YOUTH HALL. We begin together, and then break into small groups by grade for what has been traditionally called Sunday School. But we're too hip for that, so we call them Life Groups. Whatever you need to call them, it's our time of developmentally appropriate Bible study in smaller groups.
10:50 a.m. After Life Groups, you have another opportunity to worship corporately in our LifeSong service. This service is led by a band of guitars, keyboards, and drums, but still offers the opportunity for individuals of all ages to worship corporately. It's a great way to end your Sunday!
6-7:30 p.m. Usually in the YOUTH HALL for fellowship and Bible study during the school year, we are at different peoples' houses during the summer for swimming, fellowship, and youth-led Bible study. We work hard to worship in different ways, challenge each other spiritually, and listen for what God is doing.
