Everything You Could Ever Want to Know About Chad Smith*

Posted on

This is an exciting time in the life of our church, and because of that, this blog post will be longer than normal, so please keep reading to the end. First, we'll have a bio, then we'll have his schedule for this week/weekend. If what you want to know about him isn't answered here and your ministry area doesn't have a specific small group time with him, we want to draw attention to Thursday night at 6 pm in Hallock Hall or Saturday morning at 11 am in Hallock Hall.

Chad, Tara and their identical twin 5-year-old girls, Addison Grace and Ainsley Faith, are originally from Texas. Chad was raised in Whitewright and Tara in Houston. They have been married for seven years and are currently residing in Bryant, Ark.
Chad received a bachelor of arts and sciences degree in Fine Arts/Church Music from Dallas Baptist University in May 2004. Additionally, he has studied aeronautical science/professional piloting at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant.
Chad has more than 20 years experience of serving the local church in the areas of music, worship arts, education and senior adults. He accepted Christ at the age of 12 at a Lake Lavon Baptist Youth Camp and felt a call to ministry soon after.
Chad attributes much of his growth as a Christian, church musician and leader to his minister of music at his home church who mentored him as well as his youth ministers who invested in his life. His grandmother also played a vital role, as she is the person who helped discover his musical gifts and abilities and made sure he received the very best private instruction available. Chad’s passion in life and ministry is helping people discover and develop their artistic gifts for the purpose of glorifying God and helping the local church worship in spirit and in truth with excellence and creativity. For fun, Chad enjoys water and snow skiing, piloting, traveling and is a classic Corvette and Mustang enthusiast.
Tara is a professional counselor and school psychologist who graduated with her masters degree from Baylor University in 2008. She has a passion and desire to reach out to the lost and hurting in the community.
Chad sees huge potential here, especially in the area of Worship Arts/Music, and is excited about the great things God has planned for the future of the church. Their family hopes to become a part of the FBC family soon and begin sharing in the great work God is doing in this place.
