"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."
Romans 8:28
Can you imagine waiting your entire life for something, anticipating it with all your heart, only for it to arrive and not recognize it? How many times have we prayed, hoped, and longed for an answer, only to feel as though that answer never came? The Bible tells us that "HOPE deferred makes the heart sick" (Proverbs 13:12). But what if it's not that God hasn’t answered, but that our perspective is clouding our ability to see His response?
We serve a God who promises to work all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). That includes you and me! When I feel stuck or can’t see how the Lord is moving in my life, I like to ask Jesus, our true HOPE, "Is there something hindering the fullness of Your will in my life?" or "Jesus, will You show me what I might be missing?"
Our HOPE must be anchored in Christ alone—not in whether or when He answers our prayers the way we expect, but in the assurance that His perspective is perfect. Our HOPE is not like a fleeting wish; it’s grounded in the certainty of who God is.
As you go through this holiday season, my prayer is that you take time to be still and talk with Jesus. Ask Him to restore any lost HOPE and to help you see your life through His eyes. Let us place our HOPE not in the outcomes we desire but in being with the One who holds all things in His hands.
"We have this HOPE as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain."
Hebrews 6:19
