Humans were promised repeatedly and given every reason and evidence to trust something would happen, but until it happens, some of us don’t truly believe it will. The condition of Hope is Born from desiring or expecting something to happen, often from a sense of trust that things will happen.
“Out of the depths I cry to you, Lord; Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.
If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand?
But with You there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve You.
I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word, I put my HOPE.”
Psalm 130:1-5
This is one of the times every year I wait for the impending arrival of the Lord. This time of year is the sweetest joy of the most important birth – the birth we all waited for, whether we knew it or not. Hope is Born!
I await in expectation and anticipation of the arrival of my Savior. I know the darkness of sin and despair; the darkness of fear on this earth will not last. My list of sins is long and detailed, and His mercy is no tally of them! God provides my relief and comfort, Waiting in these verses reveals longing, yearning, and eagerness. I hear that eagerness. I think I feel it, too. I wait for Jesus to greet me. I wait to see the peace on His countenance. I wait to feel the warmth of His presence enveloping me. Can you imagine how big I’m going to hug Him? I want to laugh and dance with Jesus. I HOPE to feel the relief and solace His presence must bring. I can almost taste the joy that must float in the air around him. I think it must have a substance to it. I wait for the Lord to come and take me. Alongside for now, home in His time.
I wait for the Lord. My WHOLE BEING waits. And in His word, I put my HOPE.
